Since 2013, we've been working as marketing communication specialists, facilitating collaborations between Japanese and foreign companies, and strengthening brand reputations. Native to Shiga Prefecture, I spent 12 years working and studying in Michigan, USA. After completing my studies at Eastern Michigan University, where I obtained an MA in Linguistics, I focused on intercultural communication research during my graduate studies. Building on this foundation, I went on to work on diverse projects, both in Japan and internationally, with esteemed manufacturing companies like Nissan Motor Corp. and Panasonic Japan. In 2013, I took the leap to establish 3Chroma, providing vital support to small to medium-sized companies of various industries in overseas operations, project optimization, facilitating effective communication and marketing & promotion. Additionally, I ventured into the tour industry by founding Biwako Backroads, an initiative aimed at showcasing the captivating rural charm of Japan.
As a native of Michigan in the US, I attended the University of Michigan, where I received my undergrad degree in fine arts. Soon after I began professional work as a web designer in the late 1990s, which expanded to front end web development and UI/UX while working for University Libraries, and taking post-graduate Japanese classes, before moving to Japan in 2006. Initially spending several years teaching English, in 2013, Takako and I established 3Chroma, allowing me to return to web and design work, while also incorporating newly developed skills in English copywriting and translation, photography, videography, and more. Experienced in HTML, CSS, SASS, JS, PHP, SQL, Wordpress, and Adobe Design tools.
